What is HydroFlight?

HydroFlight is an exciting new extreme sport that is taking the water sports industry by storm! It's exactly what it sounds like. It uses the power of water to send a rider flying through the air at extreme speeds, soaring heights and even diving through the water as effortlessly as a dolphin.

How does it work?

A personal watercraft (PWC) is what provides all of the thrust to get these riders flying. A hose is installed to the PWC, making all of the water power that it would use to move to be re-routed through a hose. At the other end of the hose is a Flyboard or jetpack that a rider straps their feet. When the PWC is revved up by a driver, or a wireless remote, the water power thrusts the rider into the air! That rider then has all of the control of the PWC  and has all of that water power to do some pretty awesome stunts.

What can riders do on one of these boards?

Depending on how long the hose is, and how powerful of a jet-ski the rider is attached to, a rider can fly 50+ feet in the sky, throw flips and spins, dive through the water like a dolphin and much more. This is a new sport so limits are being pushed and new discoveries are being made all the time. When multiple devices get hooked up to some lights and lasers at night, makes for a pretty amazing light show for onlookers too!

How do HydroFlight competitions work?

These competitions are set up so the rider does a timed freestyle routine where they show off what they can do. Flips, spins, dives, high heights, Supermans (the rider goes completely horizontal and resembling superman) and even "threading the needle" (the rider does a flip and comes back through the hose ring they just created) are thrown to achieve the highest amount of points. Points are awarded by a set of judges. It's always exciting to see who has invented a new trick as well!

Can HydroFlight be fun for beginners?

YES!!! Have you ever wanted to fly? Well now you can, and it's better than you imagined it would be! This feeling is achieved even by hovering just a few feet above the water. It's exhilarating and there is a reason people line up to try this!
